If you are reading the notes on a computer in the library or on your own computer via the World Wide Web, you may want to download the notes to read later or to print out. Each lesson will include the opportunity to download the notes to your own floppy disk.
The notes are in HTML format, which may be viewed with any World Wide Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator. You can browse through the notes in a convenient hypertext form, view graphics not available in the printed handouts and link directly to World Wide Web and FTP sites if you have an active Internet connection. For information about the HTML format and how to use a Web Browser, see Reading Course Notes with a Web Browser.
Reading Course Notes with a Web Browser
The HTML File Format
These course notes are published in a standard format used on the World Wide
Web called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). They may be read with
Netscape Navigator or any other World Wide Web browser.
Obtaining a World Wide Web Browser
To download a free copy of the Windows version of Netscape Navigator,
follow these steps:
This version of Netscape will work with Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT.
A Macintosh version, a Windows 95/NT version and a more recent
version for Windows 3.1 are available from the Netscape Web site.
However, these versions are too large to download to floppy disks.
If you are reading these notes in the library and want to install one of these later Windows versions on your computer, first install the version available here, then go to the Netscape Web site from your own computer and download the newer version directly to your own computer.
